Bugatti Just Built One Car That Sold for $18.7 Million--the Most Expensive Car in Its 110-Year History.

Bugatti is known for its production of many of the highest-priced automobiles in the entire world. Such as Bugatti's $1.1 million Veyron and the $3.2 million Chiron as well as the five-million Divo. The uber-exclusive French manufacturer is commemorating its 110th year. In addition, it has developed an exclusive display car called La Voiture Noire to place an appropriately extravagant twist on the celebration. Frank Heyl, the brand's director of design for exteriors, offered the vehicle to an unnamed client who purchased the car "without even asking for the price." However, we wanted to know the price. To be clear, the price for the vehicle was $12.3 million before taxes and $18.7 million with tax.

The menacing concept car was unveiled for the first public appearance at the Geneva Auto Show earlier this spring. It was displayed over the week on the grounds of the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este on the shores of Lake Como in Italy, constantly surrounded by admiring tourists. This is because it is not a normal passenger vehicle and is more like an interstellar shark that eats carnivores. The striking appearance is deliberate since its distinctness isn't just its primary selling point. Only one will be produced, and it will be handed out by the owner in the latter half of 2021. It is also intended to be a calling card for a new service that the brand will provide.

The French automaker is making only one of La Voiture Noire.

"We're now moving into creating our coach-building operation in-house," Heyl states, refers to a tradition that was prevalent in the mid and early 20th century, in which an automaker would build an engine and transmission (engine as well as transmission) and the chassis (an automobile's base) in which wealthy customers could have an independent shop create a custom-built body. "People were already thinking of Bugatti as the top of the automobile pyramid. Then we've put another the top over that."

The car is built on the Bugatti Divo and is a relic of the design cues that are seen on all Bugattis--including the horseshoe-shaped grille, a curving character line (called"Bugatti line") "Bugatti line") that extends upwards and along the flank to the side and an open design around the taillights -- it is unique, with more muscular and sculptural Carbon fiber-based body parts, distinct Fender curves, and an aluminum seam that runs across the roof of the car.

La Voiture Noire has a similar design to Bugatti's iconic Type 57S Atlantic from the 1930s.

The elements mentioned above are all directly referencing a famous automobile from the history of the brand, which was the Type 57S Atlantic from the 1930s, a cult model of which only one was ever built (only two survived, and they're one of the most sought-after automobiles in this world). Jean Bugatti, a son of founder Ettore Bugatti, had the black Atlantic for his car. Although it is now lost, it was still known earlier in the past as the automobile noire.

Why is this the most expensive vehicle in the history of the brand? "The price is like this because we will make only one," Heyl adds. Heyl. "If you make 1 million Golfs of Volkswagen, you'll need one million cars to make the most value for your money as a business. We only have one car to make our investment back.'
